Results from the DAMIC-M Low Background Chamber

ORAL

Abstract

The DAMIC-M prototype, the Low Background Chamber (LBC), was built underground at the Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane in 2022. The detector features two skipper CCD modules, totally 25g of silicon target mass. Among the LBC goals are the characterization of the CCD modules and measure their dark current in a low background environment. The LBC has achieved a background rate of 6 dru and the dark current of ~ 20e-/mm^2/day, while still using obsolete electronics. In this talk, we will report on the status of our empirical background model and progress of the dark current measurements using the new readout electronics.
