The self-force on static and dynamic charges in Schwarzschild spacetime using the method of images.

One of the most basic self-force problems (some times called radiation reaction force) is that of an electric or scalar charge in a Schwarzschild spacetime. There are many ways to solve these problems, but the results are still somehow "non intuitive". I will use some simple arguments to derive the force using the method of images -- and hopefully restore the intuitive nature of the problem. I will begin with the static problem and then extend the method to the dynamic case.
