New NICER Constraints on the Equation of State of High-Density Matter
ORAL
Abstract
Precise and reliable measurements of neutron star radii are essential to our understanding of cold, catalyzed matter beyond nuclear saturation density. I will present new measurements of the mass and radius of the pulsar PSR J0437-4715 based on NICER X-ray data, as well as an updated measurement of the mass and radius of the high-mass pulsar PSR J0740+6620. In addition to presenting our analyses of these new and updated data sets, I will discuss the implications of our measurements for the matter in the cores of neutron stars.
