The benefits of cognitive differences in physics researchers
POSTER
Abstract
The same differences in cognition that are present in hidden disabilities also enhance problem-solving abilities, innovation, and creativity in individuals. Cognitive diversity has great potential to contribute to the scientific output of our field if we are able to attract and retain this talent. This presentation will discuss the advantageous potential that neuro-diversity can bring to our field, and explore the impacts of standardized tests and other barriers to the integration of students and researchers with hidden disabilities from the standpoint of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
