GEM-CSC trigger implementation and validation in CMS

ORAL

Abstract

Developments in the Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) and Cathode Strip Chambers (CSC) trigger system at the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment hosted at CERN. Implementation and validation of the GEM-CSC trigger using the Optical Trigger Mother Board (OTMB) software emulator using real CMS collision data. Our approach involves emulating Level-1 Trigger Local Charged Tracks, Anode Local Charged Tracks, and Cathode Charged Tracks hits, providing a comprehensive analysis of detector response. The presentation will delve into the tools developed for detecting and resolving issues within the OTMB firmware, crucial for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the trigger system that helps with understanding of the GEM-CSC trigger implementation and how GEM detectors can improve existing CSC triggering and also contributes to the ongoing efforts in optimizing the performance of the CMS experiment.
