Neutron Star Evolutions with the Nmesh Program
ORAL
Abstract
We present the results of recent evolutions we have performed with a single Neutron Star to test the performance of the Nmesh program. We choose the cases of a boosted neutron star and a neutron star that migrates between a stable and an unstable configuration, as these systems are relatively more dynamic compared to the previous cases we studied consisting of a stable neutron star and one with a slight perturbation applied to it. We utilize the Harmonic Gauge to evolve the Neutron stars with a dynamic metric incorporating gravity. We use separately a purely finite volume scheme and a combined finite volume and discontinuous Galerkin method for the evolution scheme. We utilize and test our trouble indicators for the latter to switch between the two schemes in a domain. We also study the effect of various limiters, such as positivity limiters, for our runs.
