Excited states of 11B above the α-decay threshold populated via the 10B(d,p)11B reaction

Abstract
The resonance region of 11B has been of recent interest due to the suggestion of a near-threshold resonance as a possible explanation to reconcile differences between theoretical calculations and experimental measurements of β-delayed proton emission from 11Be. In the present work, excited states of 11B above the α-decay threshold were populated up to Ex = 13 MeV using a (d,p) reaction at Florida State University's John D. Fox Superconducting Linear Accelerator Laboratory. 16-MeV deuterons were accelerated by a tandem Van de Graaff accelerator onto both 10B and 11B targets while the outgoing protons were deflected and detected by the Super-Enge Split-Pole Spectrometer. Angular distributions were measured and spectrosopic information was extracted through a DWBA analysis. Shell model calculations for this system were performed using the WBP Hamiltonian and compared to the experimental measurements. These results and their implications will be presented.
