Sterile Neutrino Search At MicroBooNE Using Both The BNB And NuMI Beams
ORAL
Abstract
MicroBooNE is an 85 tonne active volume liquid argon time projection chamber which detects neutrinos both on-axis from the Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB) and off-axis from the Neutrinos at the Main Injector (NuMI) beam. In this talk, I will describe a search for short baseline oscillations in a 3+1 sterile neutrino model, and compare our results with the LSND, Neutrino-4, and gallium anomalies. This search utilizes high performance charged current electron neutrino (νe) and muon neutrino (νμ) selections as well as a neutral current π0 selection. We describe the impact of a degeneracy caused by cancellation of νe appearance and disappearance, and demonstrate that this degeneracy can be broken by combining results from the BNB and NuMI beams which have substantially different νe/νμ ratios.
