Status of the Muon g-2 Experiment

ORAL · Invited

Abstract

In 2021, the Muon g-2 Experiment reported a new measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon with a precision of 460 parts-per-billion. This result is in good agreement with the previous experimental measurement from Brookhaven National Laboratory and has increased the tension with the data-driven dispersive Standard Model calculation to 4.2 standard deviations, strengthening hints of New Physics. This talk will give a brief status update on the recent data collection and analysis prospects. Improved operating conditions and recent analysis upgrades needed to reach the ultimate 140 parts-per-billion precision will be highlighted, and an outlook will be presented.
