Results of X-ray polarimetry with the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) of Galactic sources such as magnetars, pulsing neutron stars, and stellar mass black holes in binary system

Abstract
After nearly five decades from the flight of OSO-8 and the first detection of polarized X-rays from the Crab, we just entered the era of X-ray polarimetry, with the launch of the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer in December of 2021. Because of its sensitivity to the geometry of the sources and to magnetic field structures, X-ray polarimetry now allows us to study compact objects in a completely new way, and the first year of operation for IXPE has been full of exciting results for Galactic science. In my talk, I will present some of the first results on Galactic sources, from magnetars, to pulsar wind nebulae, to X-ray binaries.
