Track-Based Triggers for Unconventional Signatures at the HL-LHC

ORAL

Abstract

This talk presents the results of a study on HL-LHC opportunities for track-based triggers for long-lived particles and unconventional exotic signatures. Using a representative array of signatures, including highly ionizing tracks, displaced leptonic and hadronic decays, and soft unclustered energy patterns, this study provides an overview of how the parameters of tracker capabilities affect sensitivity. The goal is to provide an input for those designing these systems and the subsequent trigger menus to insure maximum sensitivity to a wide range of unconventional signatures.

Publication: There is an LoI submitted to Snowmass for this study, and a planned publication to be submitted to JHEP.
