Abstract
A significant portion of the American scientific community has alleged that the administration, in its first term, manipulated the processes through which science enters into governance. Evidence in support of this claim will be summarized from a historical perspective. If they were to continue, these practices would impact scientists in government and society at large, and raise the question of how the scientific community should address the issue.
