Observation of hc, the 1p1 Resonance of Charmonium
ORAL
Abstract
At CLEO ~6 pb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ data have been taken at the $\psi'$(3S1) resonance of charmonium. These data have been analyzed to search for $h_c$, the singlet P state of charmonium in the reaction $\psi' \to \pi^0 h_c, h_c \to \gamma\eta_c$, both inclusively, and in the exclusive decay of $\eta_c$ into six prominent channels. The $h_c$ is clearly observed in both inclusive and exclusive measurements. Results for the mass of $h_c$ and the product branching ratio $B(\psi' \to \pi^0 h_c)\times B(h_c \to \gamma\eta_c)$ will be presented.
