Observing Galactic Binary Populations with LISA
COFFEE_KLATCH · Invited
Abstract
The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) is a planned space- based gravitational wave detector that will be sensitive to gravitational waves in the mHz band. Although a wide variety of galactic and extra- galactic sources are expected in this band, the bulk of the signals will come from close compact-object binaries in the disk, halo, and globular cluster system of the Galaxy. The science reach of LISA and the information that can be gained from both the confusion-limited signal and individually resolved signals will be discussed.
