A New View on Black Hole Uniqueness
ORAL
Abstract
Black holes are known to be uniquely determined by their mass, angular momentum, and electric charge, but the proof is long and technical. We present a formulation of the Einstein-Maxwell equations as five divergence-less vector fields. These fields have close ties to the conserved quantities of the spacetime. We discuss our efforts to use these fields to provide a new view on black hole uniqueness.
