Modelling of Light Curves from Core Collapse Supernovae

ORAL

Abstract

In this presentation I will describe how we use incomplete light curves from core collapse supernovae to estimate the time of the shockwave breakout, and in this way enhance the performance of the search for gravitational waves in Laser Interferometric data. This will be done by performing backwards interpolations of the incomplete light curves through modeling the curves with a quartic polynomial. We also discuss the pros and the cons between using a quartic fit model versus a physics-based analytical model. This research is performed as part of the LIGO-Virgo-Kagra scientific collaborations.
