DEI and Educational Censorship Legislation

Laws that censor faculty speech at colleges and universities, or that restrict DEI initiatives, curricula, or university governance, are now in force in 21 states. Drawing on the findings of PEN America's legislative research and analysis, this presentation will survey thelandscape of these legislative threats to free expression in public education, explore their potential consequences, and offer suggestions for how educators can respond.
