Finding an Earth analog exoplanet
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
With over 5,000 exoplanets detected to date, we are closer than ever to discovering a true Earth analog. In this talk, I will explore the cutting-edge techniques astronomers use to identify exoplanets, highlighting recent breakthroughs in the field. At Lowell Observatory, our team is utilizing the EXtreme PREcision Spectrograph (EXPRES) to detect small, Earth-like exoplanets using the radial velocity method. I will discuss our ongoing survey, "The 100 Earths Search for Exoplanets," and the strategies we are employing to address one of the greatest challenges in detecting Earth-mass planets: mitigating the effects of stellar activity.
