Testing of New Chip Design for Atlas Inner Tracker at CERN

The ATLAS detector at the LHC will be undergoing its phase II upgrade. As part of this upgrade, a new pixel chip is being developed for the inner tracker part of the detector. The new pixel chip design must be tested to ensure that it copes with all the requirements for the upgraded ATLAS detector, which will include a 10-fold increase in the radiation dose that the pixels will be receiving. The work in conducting these tests includes building different testing set-ups, creating the software to run and monitor these set-ups, and storing and analyzing the data from the tests.
