Advanced LIGO quest for Gravitational Waves Astronomy.

In this talk I will summarize the current efforts and prospects of the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) to detect Gravitational Wave transients of astronomical origin. Particular focus will be given on the current status of the instruments (Advanced LIGO started the collection of data in September 2015) and the perspectives for the incoming years.
